This Is What You Need To Hear Right Now:
We need to give people more time! We had the incredible Paul Eastwick on the podcast last week (go listen now if you missed it) to talk about his newest reseach that's featured in his book 'Bonded By Evolution: The New Science of Love & Connection' about what we've gotten wrong about attraction, choosing the right partner, and long term connection. We're still blown away by these stats he shared: 40% of people felt nothing when they initially met their now long-term partner. Only 20% reported knowing they were all in right away. And this had no correlation to "settling" (as some replies to this highly debated instagram post assumed). A lot of times the reason for not feeling anything right away is the context we meet – and Paul's other research points to attraction growing over time. Our takeaways: go on that second date even if you're not sure, try dating someone outside your typical 'type to expand it, and keep going to events and activities where you see the same people to give attraction the chance to grow.
