❤️ Is it Love or Ego? | The Dateable Dish

Hello Dateables,

Happy Friday all! Can't believe it is almost the end of July! Julie's in full-wedding planning mode, with less than 6 weeks til the big day! But it's all coming together as she shared a couple week's ago on our update episode. Yue is also getting ready for her Europe tennis trip / MindValley Conference. We've been recording Season 21 in full swing because August is going to be one busy month!

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

This Is What You Need To Hear Right Now: It's time for an ego shed!

We recorded a podcast today for Alignment Academy with Kristen Such and we got into a very interesting topic around ego when dating. We've certainly touched on this before, but there was a term she used "ego shed" that really resonated with us. She was talking about the times where she had to get real about what she really wanted (a relationship) and start to look at ways that she shed her ego instead of hiding from it playing the cool girl or not honoring the truth of what she really wanted out of fear of not getting it. And we've certainly been here ourselves (we have whole part in our book around 'Is it Love or Ego?'). But sometimes the biggest movement in love comes from letting go of our egos.

To really get vulnerable about what we want in life and approach it knowing that yes it may hurt our egos, but in the end, does it even matter? What's more important is that we go after what we truly want!

❤️ Share with a friend that also needs to hear this as well.

What We're Up To This Week

🎧  New Episode Alert! How Dating Rules Keep You Stuck w/ Talia Koren. We're reairing one of our favorite interviews that we we were on in the off season. Of course with all new intros and make sure to tune into brunchtalk this Sunday!

Julie is going glamping for her friend's 40th bday. She's a little scared as an avid non-camper (but has also been reminded this isn't real camping)

Yue is doing a plushie making workship to fully lean into her grandma mode.

Book Review of the week

"Self-help as a genre tends to be... trash. It's even worse when the subject is dating/relationships. This is the rare gem that approaches it from a different, much more valuable angle. They don't waste anytime burying the lead - despite the title of the book, *you are already dateable*. The rest is just understanding how to cultivate and be confident in your authentic self, and how to recognize/avoid some common pitfalls. As a casual listener of the podcast, I listened to the audiobook which felt like a very natural extension of it - but instead of it being a "bonus episode", it felt like a strong summary of their many years of content."

Pick up the book (or audiobook) now if you haven't yet. And leave us a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever else you got the book (Audible, Barnes & Noble, Spotify, etc.)
