❤️ Money Talks, Celebrations & Of Course Love | The Dateable Dish

February 21, 2025

Hey Dateables,

We just wrapped up a whirlwind run with our book launch events in San Francisco! We had three incredible events last week - our Valentine's Day Show + Book Party, our reading at the Book Passage Marin, and our salon-style discussion at Manny's. There was cake. There were insightful questions. And even a few crazy moments sprinkled within. But most importantly, we loved meeting / seeing all of you! We were connected with so many people from the Facebook group, old friends, and all the new faces that are now part of the #dateablefam. Thanks to everyone that came out (and especially the ones we saw at multiple events!)

Also a shoutout to our friend Nicki who made us an incredible cake + our friend Billy who threw us an after party to celebrate the book! Friday was one for the books (cheesy, we know).

And of course a big thank you to Dr. Marie Thouin who was the best moderator for not one, but two of our events! We loved having you join us and you added so much wisdom to the conversation! PS: If you haven't listened to her episode on Dateable about compersion, go listen now!

So LA friends, come out and join us this weekend! We'll be at Barnes & Nobles in Santa Monica signing books from 12-2pm on Friday and then at The Book Jewel Westchester for another event from 2-4pm. Hope to see you there! New York, stay tuned! We're coming for you next.

But until then...we're resting.

This Is What You Need To Hear Right Now: It can be a hard maybe

One theme that kept coming up over of all our talks was: when should I give something more of a chance versus leave the situation? Should I go on another date? Should I continue the relationship? Or should I cut-out if I'm not 100% there?

We hear you. It can be hard to know what to do. You don't want to waste time with the wrong people. But you also know that the spark isn't always leading you in the right direction.

We'd like to invite you to sit in the hard maybe.

We love Mark Manson and agree that ultimately we should be a f*ck yes for someone. But the reality is that doesn't always happen instantaneously. Cue the Expectation of Love On Demand! Especially in the early stages of getting to know someone - whether you've been on a date or two or if you're evaluating if this person could be a real partner

When it's a hard maybe, it means you're getting to f*ck yes. It's relieving the pressure to know right away, but knowing you are interested in seeing where this goes. It's chasing the curiosity if you had a "good enough" time (no that's not settling!) It's being open if you're not completely sure or this person isn't typically your type. It's not settling for someone who doesn't treat you well, you find unattractive, or you don't enjoy being around. That's a f*ck no. Set those people free, but see if the hard maybes can keep building momentum. And if they don't? Then at least you know you gave it your all.

Connections take time. And we don't give them enough room to develop anymore. Because the reality is that hard maybe can soon turn into a f*ck yes.

❤️ Forward to a friend that also needs to hear this as well.
