❤️ The Year Of The Horse | The Dateable Dish

January 17, 2026

Hello Dateables,

2026 is officially off to the races and we're easing back into life (as many of you probably are as well!) While officially starting in February for the Chinese New Year, we're amped up about this coming year of the horse, which is all about momentum, movement, and courage. Horse energy is about forward motion – not overthinking, not waiting, not circling the same lessons. Which means 2026 is your year for love. The year that all the learnings and lessons got put into action.

We've also been digging this 2016 trend happening on Instagram where people are posting photos from their life 10 years ago. We posted one today and it brought us back to the good ol' days when we were both single, living it up! Check out our pics and give us a follow (just don't tell us how much younger we looked 😭)

2016 holds an extra special place in our hearts as it was the year that Dateable was born! Stay tuned for our 10 Year Anniversary episode that will kick off Season 22 in Feb! Make sure to subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts if you haven't yet!

This Is What You Need To Hear Right Now:

You can’t meet your match if you keep lowering your standards. When you keep accepting less than you deserve, you block the people who could actually meet you where you are. Standards aren’t walls — they’re filters for alignment. Keep them high. The right person will rise to meet them.

❤️ Share with a friend that also needs to hear this as well.

What We're Up To This Week

🎧  New Episode Alert! What's In Store For Your Dating Archetype In The Year Of The Horse. If you haven't yet, take the dating archetypes quiz to find out yours and subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts to hear the episode. Also tune in this Sunday for a special quickie with Julie about how to increase your RQ (relational intelligence) and what this looks like in early dating.

❤️ Are you in a relationship? Or just interested in the psychology behind human connection? Check out our new podcast 'The Psychology of Relationships' available now on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, or wherever else you get your podcasts. Subscribe and listen to the latest episodes!

🤖 Try our new Dateable AI Coaching App where you can get personalized advice trained on our years of podcast episodes, courses, and frameworks. We're seriously amazed every day what this technology can do! And there's nothing to lose because if it's not the right fit, you can get a full refund within 7 days. Visit studio.com/dateable to learn more.

🐶 Yue is thankful that her dog Mojo is recovered from pneumonia.

🎭 Julie is going to SF Sketchfest this week, which starts a three week comedy festival full of improv, standup, and other fun events.

Book Review of the week

"This book was so incredibly helpful…the authors get the struggles of dating and it felt like they were giving me sound advice while making me feel optimistic for once. This book gave me such a better perspective and tools I’ve started to use when dating. Highly recommend to anyone who is hopeful that their person is out there!

Currently 30% on Amazon and the audiobook is $.99 with an audable membership. And if you already read / listened to it: leave us a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever else you got the book (it helps SO SO much and we'd be forever grateful 🙏)

🚨New Dating App alert!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Serena Sterling, the founder of the new dating app Satya, and we're so excited about what she's building! Satya is designed to help singles who are genuinely seeking meaningful, long-term relationships by encouraging authenticity and teaching healthier dating practices – and she has features such as dating purgatory, rate my match, and more to keep people accountable! Learn more and join the waitlist (or get started if you are in California, Salt Lake City, or Park City!)

Upcoming Events

Love Isn't Blind: If you're looking for comedy, mingling, and an outright good time, check out the live dating show 'Love Isn't Blind' with comedian Allison Goldberg. Julie went to a show last week in SF and it was an absolute blast! She has upcoming shows in San Diego, LA, SF (again), Seattle, Brooklyn and DC. Use code DATEABLE for discounted tix.

Chaotic Singles Party: Want to meet someone IRL this year? Check out the Chaotic Singles Party (now in 12 cities nationwide!) After going viral on TikTok for inviting her dating app matches to her house for a house party, Cassidy Davis started a new dating trend called The Chaotic Singles Party. Now she hosts these parties all over the country where 100+ singles can meet matches IRL at an epic party!
